Sophomore Billy Dimlow twirled seven scoreless innings with 11 strikeouts while senior Brian Hernandez collected four hits at the plate with two RBIs as the top-ranked Emory University Baseball team blanked Piedmont College, 5-0, on Saturday afternoon at Chappell Park in Atlanta, GA.

Dimlow returned to form Saturday, firing seven excellent innings to earn his third win of the season. He allowed just six hits and three walks while racking up double-digit strikeouts for third time in five starts. Dimlow coasted throughout the outing, only running into trouble in the sixth inning as Piedmont loaded the bases. The Sammamish, WA native worked out of the jam, however, striking out pinch hitter Nathan Holt looking to end the threat.

Hernandez went 4-for-4 with two RBIs, a stolen base while finishing a triple shy of the cycle to power the offense. The Miami, FL native provided the lone run support the Eagles needed on the afternoon, delivering a run-scoring single in the first inning to plate sophomore NJ Kim. Hernandez added another RBI in the sixth inning, wrapping a home run around the left field foul pole for his first round tripper of the season.

Emory added runs in the fourth, fifth and eighth innings in the five-run victory. In the fourth, junior Mitch Kerner brought home Hernandez on a sac fly to center. An inning later, Kim grounded out to first base to plate junior Danny Kerning. Kerner tacked on an insurance run in the eighth, forcing home junior Nick Chambers on a fielder's choice to second.

Senior Kyle Monk tossed the final two innings to help preserve the third shutout for the Eagles on the year. Monk gave up just one hit in his two innings of work to go along with four strikeouts.

Emory and Piedmont wrap up their three game weekend series Sunday afternoon with first pitch scheduled for 2:00 PM at Chappell Park. Stay tuned to emoryathletics.com for any weather related updates regarding the game.
