Dooley, Emory's unofficial skeletal mascot, rose from the dead Monday to walk the campus for Dooley's Week, joining students for a variety of free events and arriving to dismiss class for a lucky few.

"Dooley’s Galaxy: Where the Afterlife Is Out of This World” is the theme of this year's festivities, and the Student Programming Council (SPC) has added more fun to the Dooley’s Week calendar.

“So far Dooley's Week has been off to a great start. Students had a blast decorating cupcakes on Monday. On Tuesday, Taste of Emory was of the biggest ones yet with over 20 food vendors — even Dooley came by for some free samples!” says Penelope Pentzas, Dooley's Week co-chair.

It was great to see the campus come together to support the student performers at Couchella on Tuesday evening, she notes. “Tabletalk and the Pulse did an amazing job organizing the event and creating welcoming atmosphere for all in attendance," Pentzas says.

The tour of Dooley’s Galaxy continues with these remaining activities and events:

Wednesday, April 5

Today's Wonderful Wednesday got an SPC — and a galactic —makeover, with space-themed food and activities on the DUC Terraces.

This evening, the Latin Students Organization will host Salsa Under the Stars from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Asbury Circle. Whether you’re a salsa expert or have never danced it, the event is for everyone to enjoy.

Thursday, April 6

Thursday features two big events with the College Council Slide 'n Scoops and the Intergalactic Laser Tag Party.

Slide 'n Scoops will be from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. in Asbury Circle. Students can enjoy ice cream from Butter & Cream in Decatur while playing on an inflatable slide.

Later on, from 6 to 8 p.m. at McDonough Field, play Intergalactic Later Tag, get some more free food (Waffle House will be there!), make a lava lamp and come early for a glow-in-the-dark flying disk. “Bring a group of friends to play laser tag together or come solo and meet some other great Emory students while you play,” Pentzas says.

Friday, April 7

Dooley's Week embraces First Friday, inviting everyone to come hear performances from Emory's student a cappella groups from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. inside the DUC in Coke Commons. Groups include Dooley Noted, ChaiTunes, No Strings Attached, The Gathering and Aural Pleasure.

Comedian Nikki Glaser comes to campus Friday evening for a performance in Glenn Memorial Auditorium. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Glaser is also a writer, producer and talk show host. She has appeared in the Judd Apatow-directed film “Trainwreck” and in specials for Netflix and Comedy Central. Guests are welcome to Glaser’s performance with guest wrist bands, which are free and can be picked up at the DUC Coca-Cola Commons.

Also planned for Friday is a Block Party, sponsored by all Greek councils, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sorority Lawn, featuring food, inflatables and performances.

A First Year Dinner will be held on the First Year Quad from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. All students are welcome to come by for a burger on their way to Dooley’s Ball.

For Emory graduate students only, the Student Programming Council presents its first Grad Student Biergarten. It will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Campus Life Pavilion on Peavine Drive. There will be free beer, King of Pops treats, pizza, soft pretzels and music from a live jazz band. There will also be prizes and giveaways. Attendees must present ID.

Dooley’s Ball will be held at McDonough Field beginning at 8 p.m. Keep checking the SPC Facebook for updates on who will be performing at the ball.

Saturday, April 8

On Saturday, Symposium VI will be hosted by Alpha Tau Omega and The Pulse to be held at the ATO House, 12 Eagle Row. All students are invited to bring a blanket, eat at the event’s fondue bar and view performances by dancers and singers as well as art displays.
