Victoria Chan, assistant director of the Office of Student Conduct, was awarded the Bobby E. Leach Award by the Southern Association of College Student Affairs (SACSA) in November. The award “recognizes a student affairs professional or graduate student who has contributed significantly to the development of multicultural relations on a college or university campus.”

Raphael Coleman, associate director for community wellbeing in the Office of Health Promotion, was selected as the Southern College Health Association’s New Professional of the Year in March. Coleman will be honored by the American College Health Association in June for contributions to health promotion in higher education, including revitalizing Emory’s PrEP clinic, coordinating the university’s Safety Alliance, furthering multicultural well-being, and advancing drug prevention strategies.

Bob Crowder, assistant director of facilities for the Dobbs University Center (DUC), was awarded in January the Certificate of Graduation for completing the full curriculum of the Institute of Facilities Management of the professional association, APPA: Leadership in Educational Facilities.

Tiffany Del Valle transitioned from assistant director of the Center for Women to associate director of the Office of Multicultural Programs and Services (OMPS).

Jake Dunn has been appointed as assistant coach for women’s soccer, after spending the 2016 season on the women's soccer staff at Rowan University (NJ). 

Dave Furhman was named senior director of finance, administration and operations for Campus Life, effective May 1, 2017, having served previously as interim associate vice president.

Marian Hudson, administrative assistant in Housing Operations, was honored in April for 35 years of service to Emory.

Mike Huey, assistant vice president and executive director of Student Health Services, was selected in March as a fellow of the American College Health Association. Huey serves as vice president of ACHA, a professional association that counts nearly 3,000 individual and 1,000 institutional members.

Brittany Jones is a new addition to the Housing Operations team in the role of assistant director of conference services and marketing. She comes to iD Tech Camps and received her master’s in computer science from the College of William and Mary.

Ed Lee, executive director of community and the Center for the Advancement of Student Advocacy and Agency, will serve as interim director of the Office of Multicultural Programs and Services (OMPS).

Ajay Nair, senior vice president and dean of Campus Life, was named in February to the board of directors and as director of Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice Division for the professional association, NASPA: Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education.

Casey Rhode, a member of the Emory Eagles cross country/track and field program, has been recognized as one of the top 10 business majors graduating this year.

Malcolm Robinson will fill the role of program coordinator for the Office of Multicultural Programs and Services (OMPS). He is an Emory alumnus and former intern with the Center for the Advancement of Student Advocacy and Agency (CASA²).

Becka Shetty has accepted the position of associate director for SILT, Transitions and Leadership Programs. She served most recently as assistant director for the Emory Integrity Project.

Chad Sunstein has been appointed director of Emory Dining Services, having served previously as acting director.

Wanda Swan, director of the Respect Program in the Office of Health Promotion, received the NOVA 2017 Exceptional Victim Advocate Award from the National Organization for Victim Assistance (NOVA) in March, recognizing her “outstanding leadership and tireless efforts” to advance the rights of crime victims. Swan was also honored by the Center for Women at Emory at the 100 Years of Women at Emory celebration in March as an Unsung Heroine for her work supporting survivors of interpersonal violence and her leadership in the effort to end multiple forms of oppression at Emory.

DeLa Sweeney has been appointed director of social justice education for the Center for the Advancement of Student Advocacy and Agency (CASA²).

Mahkada Taylor, who joined the Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) team in May as a staff psychologist, earned her PhD in clinical psychology from Howard University and completed doctoral internship at the University of Virginia. She served at Florida Atlantic University as assistant director and research coordinator at the counseling center.

Christy Thomaskutty, head women's basketball coach, has been named vice president of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).

Mike Vienna, Clyde Partin Sr. Director of Athletics, was inducted into the Salisbury University Athletics Hall of Fame last year. Vienna served at Salisbury University for 26 years. During his tenure, the Sea Gulls produced more than 400 All-Americans and achieved a combined, overall winning record of 69 percent, with 17 team and 14 individual national championships, 179 conference championships, and 14 conference all-sports awards.

Rebecca Watson, appointed associate director for assignments and communication in Housing Operations, comes from West Georgia College, where she served as interim residential conduct coordinator. She holds a master’s from Georgia State.
