Sharon R. Rabinovitz

MESSAGE FROM AJAY NAIR:

Dear Campus Life Senior Staff:

I am pleased to announce that Sharon R. Rabinovitz, MD, will become interim assistant vice president and executive director of Emory University Student Health Services (SHS), succeeding Michael J. Huey, MD. Sharon will assume this role following Mike’s retirement on July 31, 2018. She will report to the senior vice president and dean of Campus Life and serve on the Executive Leadership Team.

Sharon brings exceptional experience and commitment to the SHS mission to provide excellent outpatient health care for Emory students. Since joining Emory in 2017, she has been director of clinical services at SHS, reporting to and working closely with Mike. In that role, Sharon has been responsible for ensuring that SHS has the resources to provide care for Emory students and support for health care providers. She has also served as lead on key projects, including development of an immunization compliance program with the goal that Emory students receive all vaccinations recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

A family physician in the Atlanta community since 1999, Sharon established a private practice, taught medical students and residents at Atlanta Medical Center, and served as medical director at Georgia State University Student Health Clinic. She received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Jefferson Medical College, aka Sidney Kimmel Medical College, and completed her residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

I want to take this opportunity to thank Mike Huey for the distinction with which he has served Student Health Services for 16 years. Under his leadership of SHS, care for Emory students has been significantly expanded in various areas – primary care, women’s health, sports medicine, counseling, psychiatry, health promotion services, and others. As many of us recall, Mike’s outstanding contributions to Emory and its students was recognized with the 2013 Emory Campus Life Helen W. Jenkins Lifetime Achievement Award. We look forward to celebrating his many accomplishments throughout the rest of the year.

Please join me in thanking both of them for carrying on Emory’s commitment to providing the best in health care for our students.

Best Regards,

Ajay Nair
Senior Vice President and Dean of Campus Life
