Mike Vienna (center), director of Athletics, represented Emory on a panel celebrating metro area sports as Atlanta prepares to submit a bid to host the 2026 World Cup. The event would draw international acclaim and have a tremendous economic impact on the city and state. On August 28, the Metro Atlanta Chamber partnered with the Atlanta Sports Council to bring together business leaders, elected officials, and industry partners at SunTrust Park to celebrate the metro area’s thriving sports scene, build on past success, and maintain a competitive edge for hosting major sporting events.
