Brandi Benton, our director of the Office of Health Promotion, shares my excitement and warmly welcomes her new OHP team member: “I’m excited to have Laura carrying on the work of promoting positive and protective sexual heath behaviors for our students. Her enthusiasm and sensitivity around the topic of sexual health will help her relate to and connect with Emory students as she implements vital education, awareness, and support programming.”
Before joining Emory, Laura coordinated the Georgia College Prevention Program and delivered opioid and prescription drug misuse education for college students across Georgia. Earlier in life, her passion for sexual health education and her professional career merged at home in Huntsville, Alabama, where Laura worked at an HIV clinic, providing education on HIV, sexual health, healthy relationships, and stigma reduction for the North Alabama Public Schools and other local high schools.
Laura earned a bachelor’s in psychology at the University of Alabama, Huntsville, and a master’s in health education and promotion at Walden University. She spends much of her leisure time chasing after her two little boys, enjoying Georgia's public parks, and cooking with her family.
Please join me in welcoming Laura Calvert to our Emory University community.
Sincerely,
