Emory’s Award of Distinction nominations: Campus Life internal deadline is Feb. 3
This is the highest award presented to university staff. The Award of Distinction is bestowed annually to 10 to 15 university employees who have made outstanding contributions to the Emory community. Honorees are recognized at a special dinner and receive a $1,000 gift. The entire Campus Life team consistently maintains the highest standards of excellence serving Emory students and the university community. Many team members deserve consideration for this award. All nominations must be submitted to Venus Miller (
venus.miller2@emory.edu) in Campus Life HR by Feb. 3. Note that this date is earlier than the university Human Relations deadline. Campus Life’s internal review team will review all nominations and decide which will be sent to university HR and the Awards Selection Committee. Georgia's tax exemption for fetuses comes with a host of questions
This year, Georgia residents can claim a new — but potentially confusing — tax break: a $3,000 deduction for a fetus.
But the relatively short guidance left Georgia taxpayers with some unanswered questions on issues such as pregnancy loss, medical documentation, privacy issues, and who is eligible to take the deduction, all of which could inform how other states recognize fetal personhood when it comes to taxes.
