Open Expression Observers Program invites volunteer applications for spring
Emory's Respect for
Open Expression Policy was implemented in 2013 to affirm the university’s commitment to open expression while acknowledging the associated challenges. The Open Expression Observers (OEO) Program, coordinated by Campus Life, helps to actualize the policy by recruiting and training staff and faculty volunteers as observers. OEOs attend controversial protests, debates and high-profile events. Their charge at such events is to help safeguard the rights of all community members – including but not limited to protesters, counter-protesters and non-protesters – to express their views in all ways protected by the policy. Learn more about the
OEO Program.
Volunteers are needed for spring 2023.
If you are interested,
sign up here. Upcoming Training Sessions:
-
March 31: 1-3 p.m. via Zoom
-
April 5: 10:15 a.m. to 12 p.m. in person
