Emory’s Barkley Forum to host nation’s premier debate tournament
The National Debate Tournament (NDT) will return to Emory’s Atlanta campus for its 78th annual competition, April 4-8. The NDT will be welcomed back by Barkley Forum, the university’s nationally ranked intercollegiate public policy debate program, which also hosted the tournament in 2003 and 2012.

Tiffany Macon joins Campus Life development team
The new director of development for Campus Life, Athletics, and University Programs is Tiffany Macon. Reporting to Willie D. West, managing director of development, Macon brings a track record of successful fundraising and a background in collegiate athletics. She served most recently at the University of California, Berkeley, as director of development for leadership giving. Earlier in her career, Macon held the position of assistant director of annual giving at Syracuse University.

A student-athlete at Syracuse, she was co-captain of the women's rowing team and named by the Big-East Conference to the All-Big East Second Team and the Big East All-Academic Team. Update: Day of Giving raises more than $1.5 million
Last week, Campus Life showed up and shined for our students with Emory’s seventh annual Day of Giving. Emory raised more than $1,589,304 from 5,480 gifts in just 36 hours. Across Campus Life, the team raised a combined $212,457 from 835 gifts. The ongoing dedication and energy you consistently contribute are evident in our collective success. Keep up the excellent work!

Dooley’s Week 2024 will take home the gold
Dooley’s Week, the beloved yearly tradition for Emory students, is back this year, April 1-5, full of events, food, music, merch and more.
Staff volunteers needed for Dooley’s Week Concert
Campus Life staff can sign up to help with check-in and crowd control at the Dooley's Week concert on Friday, April 5. Volunteer for one or both of two time slots: 6-8 p.m. and/or 8-10 p.m. Specific roles will be assigned based on need but all will be low involvement – just need the helpful hands. Sign up here.

Emory Votes needs volunteers
The Emory Votes Initiative (EVI) is looking for volunteers to support the DeKalb County Polling Site located on Emory’s Atlanta campus for the 2024 Presidential Preference Primary Elections. Early voting runs from April 29 to May 17. Election Day is May 21. EVI will follow up with upcoming elections information throughout the year. Sign up here as a polling site volunteer.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month
To promote a supportive community around sexual and interpersonal harm, Emory's Office of Respect is hosting a number of events that acknowledge the strength and recovery journeys of survivors, while emphasizing the significance of this crucial issue.
Join the Office of Respect for their Brown Bag Lunch Series from 12 to 1 p.m. in the Survivor Lounge in AMUC Suite 110. The series features engaging speakers to lead robust discussions on specific topics. You can submit your questions in advance.
- April 4: Barriers to Reporting and Cultural Conversations around Sexual Assault
- April 17: Bystander Interventions
Additionally, we will recognize Denim Day on April 24. On Denim Day, everyone is encouraged to wear denim to signal that there is no excuse (like what you are wearing) for sexual violence to take place.

Celebrate APIDA Heritage Month with the ASC
Join the Asian Student Center all month to celebrate APIDA Heritage Month. Highlights include the APIDA Oral Histories Project (April 15-16), ASC x Ien Chi: Jubilee Event (April 24), and APIDA Art Gala (April 25).
APIDA Art Gala
Asian Student Center warmly invites you to the first-ever APIDA Art Gala on Thursday, April 25, at 7 p.m. in the Belonging and Community Justice (BCJ) spaces on the 3rd floor of Cox Hall. The gala will showcase artwork created by Emory's APIDA community members, as well as any artwork that highlights the rich cultural heritage of the APIDA community and the Asian diaspora. Rapt By Others: Campus Life Book Salon
Join us for the last book in the 3rd Series of Rapt By Others, a book club exploring cultural differences by reading and discussing memoirs that engage a range of human experiences. There is still time to register for the final Rapt by Others session. Participants will meet at the Emory Bookstore, on April 24 to discuss Christian Cooper’s Better Living Through Birding: Notes from a Black Man in the Natural World (2023). Emory celebrates the admitted Class of 2028
On March 27, students around the world celebrated as they were notified of their acceptance to Emory’s undergraduate Class of 2028. Emory received 34,914 undergraduate applications, with admitted students hailing from all 50 states and holding citizenship in 110 countries.

Eagles rise to fourth overall in LEARFIELD Directors’ Cup standings after successful winter
The LEARFIELD Directors' Cup released its updated standings following the conclusion of the winter season. The Emory University Eagles climbed three spots since the fall season, rising from seventh to fourth. Five different Emory teams qualified for their respective NCAA postseasons this winter, combining to score 311.50 points. The Eagles now have a total score of 598.00 after combining the fall and winter scores. Emory is one of three UAA schools inside of the top five, with NYU sitting in first with 776.00 points and WashU in fifth with 589.00 points.

Emory Hall of Famer Austin Claunch headed to Final Four with Alabama
Austin Claunch, a former Emory University standout on the men's basketball team and a member of the 2023 Emory Athletics Hall of Fame induction class, is making headlines this March as the Alabama Crimson Tide reached the Division I Final Four for the first time in their program history. Claunch, who played for the Emory Eagles from 2008 through 2012, is in his first season as an assistant on the coaching staff.

Twin Memorials Emerging Ideas Showcases on display through April 12
On March 27 at the Oxford campus and March 28 on the Atlanta campus, Hood Design Studio presented an Emerging Ideas Showcase for Twin Memorials, reflecting input from their recent campus and community listening sessions. Through April 12, the showcase welcomes visitors at the Oxford College Library and The Hatchery, Center for Innovation.
