Barkley Forum caps another winning season with its 4th Copeland Award
During the nation’s most prestigious annual debate competition, the 2024 National Debate Tournament (NDT), Barkley Forum received its fourth Copeland Award, which annually recognizes the debate program with the best competitive record of the season. However, Emory did not claim the NDT championship as it has on three previous occasions. Nevertheless, Barkley Forum made history with three teams competing in the quarterfinals and two in the semifinals, coming within two judges’ ballots of closing out the tournament – a feat never before accomplished in NDT history.
Two Emory teams of two debaters each competed in the semifinals – Grace Kessler with Shreyas Rajagopal and Daniel Gallagher with Margaret Hecht. Meanwhile, the Henry Mitchell and Bella Piekut partnership made the quarterfinals. Top speaker and second speaker awards went to Kessler with Rajagopal, respectively. Barkley Forum, consistently one of the top-10-rated programs in U.S. collegiate debate, was honored to host the NDT for the third time.
Congratulations to the extraordinary student-debaters and staff of Emory’s Barkley Forum. Read the recent Emory Report story about Barkley Forum and the NDT.

CLTS office move will slow response times
As a result of the office move now underway, Campus Life Technology Services (CLTS) will be responding to users' requests for support a little slower than usual. Please be patience during this transition.
OIT to block VPN access for some computers on April 15
On Monday, April 15, Emory's Office of Informational Technology (OIT) will block VPN access for any computer not meeting established security requirements. This means that computers that do not have current antivirus software installed and a firewall running will be denied access to the Emory network. This requirement is most likely to impact staff who use a personally-owned computer to remotely access the Emory network. Emory-owned systems managed by Campus Life Technology Services (CLTS) should not be affected. If you have VPN access issues on an Emory-provided computer, please report them by submitting a support request at https://clts.emory.edu. Read the full message here.
