Kate Stacks is named manager of Emory Bookstore
The Emory Bookstore has a new store manager, Kate Stacks (she, her, hers), who brings a strong background in retail management. Stacks’ most recent position was manager with Blick Art Materials, where her responsibilities included recruitment and training, community engagement, and cultivating relationships with universities. Stacks also worked as assistant manager with Staples, the office supply store,

managing the chain’s highest volume location in the Southeast and overseeing recruitment, customer service training, merchandising, and operations.
Stacks is eager to cultivate meaningful connections throughout the university community and provide support to students, faculty and staff. As a Barnes & Noble employee, she will work closely with Lina Vargas, Campus Life’s chief business officer and assistant vice president. Stacks shares a home with her partner Dana, their two cats and a “grumpy old dog.” She spends much of her leisure time reading, watercolor painting and gardening, which involves considerable time wondering what is eating her plants. Kate invites her Emory colleagues to “stop by and say hello” when they are in the bookstore.

“The program provided a range of excellent resources, but the most valuable for me was learning from my Emory colleagues," said Vargas. "Although there are differences in our day-to-day experiences, our leadership journeys shared many common themes, especially our shared commitment to excellence in serving Emory students and the entire university community.”
