| Four Campus Life staff members served on Employee Council
During the 2021-22 academic year, Carson Banks and Liz Carlino have been Campus Life’s primary representatives, with Gracie Gould and James Story serving as alternates. According to its website, “The Employee Council is authorized by the president of the university as an organization through which employees of the university can participate responsibly and meaningfully in the governance of the university community.” The council provides information and ideas to decision-makers and represents an employee perspective to the administration.

Campus Life is well-represented in University Senate
As an essential component of university governance, the University Senate is composed of faculty, staff, and students. The senate’s responsibilities include reviewing university policies and making recommendations to the president and the board on a range of issues, including prospective honorary degree recipients. During the 2021-22 academic year, Campus Life staff served on eight of 11 senate committees, chairing three: Athletics and Recreation: April Flint, Audrey Hester, Joyce Jaleel, Keiko Price (all ex-officio). ‘Asians need support?’
Asian American and Pacific Islander populations span dozens of ethnicities and speak more than 100 languages, scholars note. They’ve also experienced racism and exclusion, especially since the pandemic. Still, “For far too long, many Asian American and Pacific Islander students have been pushed out of conversations on equity, diversity, and inclusion,” Aunaetitrakul told Oakton’s Board of Trustees during a meeting in February.
