President Fenves: Update to Emory COVID-19 protocols for students, faculty, staff

 

Emory celebrates Juneteenth

Juneteenth, celebrated this year on Saturday, June 19, marks the day when news of the Emancipation Proclamation finally reached African Americans in Texas in 1865. Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to participate in a June 17 virtual celebration offered by Emory School of Medicine in collaboration with the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. The event, Giving Voice: The Rest of the Story with Dr. Marion Hood, is described below.

 

Giving voice: The rest of his story with Dr. Marion Hood

In 1959, Marion G. Hood applied to Emory School of Medicine but was denied admission due to his race. Despite this obstacle, Hood went on to a long and distinguished career in medicine. This moderated discussion is scheduled for Thursday, June 17, noon to 1 p.m. Learn more and/or register here.

Emory Human Resources Learning and Organizational Development announces that, after a thorough search, Russell T. Griffin has been selected as the new director of diversity and inclusion education and outreach (HR). 

 

Emory Inspired: Emory Community Building and Social Change

With a seed gift from the Kenneth Cole Foundation in 2002, Emory launched the CBSC program. The initiative, now a part of Campus Life, soon became a national model for integrating research and classroom learning with community engagement.
