New director of 1915 Scholars Program appointed
Michelle Johnson joined Campus Life on July 18 as inaugural director of the 1915 Scholars Program, bringing more than 10 years of experience supporting first-generation students. Most recently, Michelle served as director of academic advising at Georgia College. She was also inaugural director of academic advisement at Ramapo College of New Jersey and oversaw the New Jersey Equal Opportunity Fund program, focusing on funding, access, and support for financially disadvantaged students to attend college. Michelle holds a bachelor of science in psychology from Houghton College, a master of science in student personnel administration from Buffalo State College, and a doctorate in education from Teachers College, Columbia University. She will report to the newly created position of associate vice president and dean of students (working title), which was announced in April as associate vice president for belonging, engagement, and community. During the search for this position, Johnson will report to Kyle Williams, special advisor to the senior vice president and dean of Campus Life.
