As a senior member of the AVP/DOS leadership team, Mitchell-Damron supports the AVP/DOS in key areas, including, but not limited to, strategic initiatives, planning and policy development.
The director’s responsibilities include development, leadership and oversight of new and emerging programmatic and strategic efforts focused on student belonging, engagement and community. She will also build support and resources for graduate and professional students – and lead evaluation of the portfolio’s programs to ensure they meet students’ needs.
Range of previous experience
Most recently, Mitchell-Damron worked with Emory’s Goizueta Business School as manager of faculty affairs. Prior to that position, she served as Goizueta’s director of student life, engagement and support and earlier as associate director of student life and leadership. Among her many responsibilities, she mentored and advised undergraduates and partnered with student leaders.
Before arriving at Emory, Mitchell-Damron served as director of the Indiana University Student Foundation (IUSF), reporting to the president and chief executive officer. Her contributions included designing and leading workshops on professional skills development for students and forging relationships with IUSF’s Diversity Partner Organizations to attract traditionally under-represented students to the foundation.
Earlier, Mitchell-Damron was the assistant vice president for diversity recruiting in the Americas for Credit Suisse, after holding several roles with New York University and New School University, including assistant department chair, department administrator, and academic advisor.

Mitchell-Damron is passionate about helping to empower all students, especially around equity, diversity and inclusion. “During my time with Goizueta, I became well aware of the excellence that Campus Life delivers every day to support Emory students,” she said. “That has also been my commitment throughout my career. I’m excited about this unique new role and the opportunity to work with Dean Odejimi and other members of Emory’s remarkable Campus Life team.”
Mitchell-Damron holds a PhD and a master’s, both in higher education administration and personnel from New York University. She earned her bachelor’s in business administration, finance, and international business at Northeastern University. Her hobbies include reading, traveling with her family, and exploring the diverse cuisine of Atlanta’s many outstanding restaurants.
