Campus Life invites nominations for the 2022-23 Emory x Me project. Emory x Me is a social media campaign that spotlights Emory students sharing stories about themselves in their own words. Students, faculty, and staff may nominate students, and students may nominate themselves. Read more about the project, including
past student stories. If you know of an undergraduate or graduate student who would be a good Emory x Me nominee, please
complete the brief nomination form.
The deadline for nominations is August 21.

1915 Scholars Program reaches out to staff who are first-generation college
The
1915 Scholars Program invites Campus Life staff who are first-generation college students/graduates to engage with the program and support Emory's first-gen students. If you are a Campus Life staff member and first-gen student/grad, please
complete this form to receive a free polo shirt and an invitation to the 1915 Scholars Welcome Back BBQ. The event will be held on Thursday, September 8, from 4 to 6 p.m. on the plaza between the west entrance of the Emory Student Center (ESC) and the Alumni Memorial University Center (AMUC).

Tristan Reaves takes on additional responsibilities
Eagles assistant coach Tristan Reaves has been named coordinator of Student-Athlete Success Programs through the NCAA Ethnic Minority and Women’s grant. Tristan will move to the Emory Eagle Edge team on September 1, at the same time continuing his strength and conditioning coaching with Emory divers and golf teams.

Students can now build a more personal profile in OPUS
Just in time for the start of fall classes, Emory University students can now opt to share their pronouns, gender identity, and other personal characteristics in their official online profile and faculty class rosters. Following the adoption of the Student Name and Pronoun Policy, the university is launching the Student Characteristics Project this month.

Atlanta Mayor Dickens to speak at convocation, August 25
Candler School of Theology will open the 2022-2023 academic year with a fall convocation service on Thursday, August 25, at 11:05 a.m. EDT in Cannon Chapel. Andre Dickens, 61st Mayor of the City of Atlanta, will give the convocation address. An Atlanta native, Dickens is an ordained deacon at New Horizons Baptist Church. He is a graduate of Mays High School and holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Georgia Tech, as well as an MPA from Georgia State University.
