Donna Tsai joins Student Health Services The new psychiatrist on staff with Emory University Health Services (SHS) is Donna Tsai (she/her), MD, reporting to Robert Elliot, MD, director of psychiatry services for SHS. In her new role, Tsai will diagnose and provide treatment to patients, collaborate with other SHS providers, and supervise psychiatry residents.

Tsai completed a child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship and a psychiatric residency with the Emory University School of Medicine. She holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University, a master’s in education from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and a bachelor’s from the University of California, Berkeley. In her leisure time, she enjoys running, hiking, and trying different restaurants. You can welcome Donna to the Campus Life team at donna.b.tsai@emory.edu.

Be prepared for move-in traffic on campus
Activity on and around campus will ramp up next week as students arrive for the new academic year. Be prepared for extra traffic on these days:
- Friday, Aug. 23: Move-in for first-year Oxford College students
- Saturday, Aug. 24: Move-in for Atlanta campus first-year and transfer students not participating in preorientation programs
- Sunday, Aug. 25: Move-in for all other Atlanta campus students
- Monday, Aug. 26: Move-in for second-year Oxford students

Aug. 26, 10-11 a.m.: Emory Gate Crossing + Coke Toast Join the Emory community in welcoming the Class of 2028 by cheering them on as they process from the Emory Gate to the Quad. After the procession, stay for the Coke Toast on the Quad. Please arrive by 10 a.m. to find a spot; the student procession will begin promptly at 10:15. Volunteers will be available to assist. CLASS Awards and Fall 2024 Kickoff Breakfast, September 4 The 2024 Class Awards Program, originally scheduled for May, will be merged with the 2024 Kickoff Breakfast on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 9-11 a.m. Emory Student Center Multipurpose Rooms.

Keep the tradition alive: Volunteer for Emory Impact Service Day
Emory Impact Day is an old tradition with a new name. As each fall semester begins, the Emory community renews its civic and community-engagement mission with a day of service. All Emory community members, especially new and transfer students, are invited. Saturday, Sep. 7, at 10 a.m. in Emory Student Center Multipurpose Rooms 4-6. Kick-off event includes a light breakfast, t-shirts, and more! Free Chick-fil-A Breakfast for the first 500 students to arrive. Learn more and sign up.

Workshops on disability accommodations
Emory's Department of Accessibility Services is announcing a series of online workshops focused on disability accommodations, designed specifically to support faculty and staff in creating an inclusive learning environment.
Fundamentals of accommodations
This session will cover essentials of the Americans with Disability Act (ADA), provide insights into the most common disabilities encountered in academic settings, and offer practical guidance on implementing effective accommodations in courses. The discussion will also include strategies for maintaining the integrity of course(s) while implementing accommodations. Thursday, Aug. 22, 10-11:30 a.m. Zoom registration link. Supporting students on the autism spectrum This session will be facilitated in partnership with Kelsey Bohlke, assistant director of the Emory Oaks Program at the Emory Autism Center. The session will address autism, what you might see in the classroom, and strategies for supporting students. Wednesday, Sep. 18, 1:30-3 p.m. Register here.
Universal design and inclusive pedagogy
This session is facilitated by Dr. Jennifer Sarrett (hybrid session co-sponsored by CFDE). Tuesday, Oct. 29, 1:30-3 p.m. Register here. New on-campus graduate housing opens to Emory students The Ridge officially opened on Tuesday, Aug. 13, housing graduate and professional students from across the university. The housing integrates two primary needs highlighted during Emory’s master planning and residents are already loving it.
