2O36 campaign charts bold course for Emory's future

Named for Emory’s bicentennial, 2O36 is about investing in people for the benefit of people. In addition to priorities across all nine schools, multiple centers and institutes, and Emory Healthcare, there are three core areas where the campaign will place special emphasis.

 
 

Season 3: ‘Your Fantastic Mind’

The Emmy Award-winning television series "Your Fantastic Mind" launches its third season on November 1 at 8 p.m. A partnership between the Emory Brain Health Center (BHC) and Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB), the news magazine-style show highlights patient stories and reports on pioneering science and clinical advances in the areas of neurology, neurosurgery, psychiatry, sleep medicine and rehabilitation medicine. ‘History of Illustrations and Early Printmaking in Europe’

This virtual event is the sixth in the “Bound with History: Encounters with the Rose Library’s Collections Series.”

 

Artist in Residence: Cannupa Hanska Luger

Cannupa Hanska Luger is a New Mexico-based multidisciplinary artist who uses social collaboration in response to timely and site-specific issues. From November 5 to 13, Luger will be in residence at the Carlos, conducting programs for Emory students and the public.

Addressing the mental health of LGBTQ+ students

A new study finds that LGBTQ+ students suffer more substance misuse, depression, suicidal ideation, and disengagement than their non-LGBTQ+ peers. The pandemic has only made it worse.

 

Nearly one-third of Jewish students report campus anti-Semitism

Most commonly, respondents reported personally experiencing offensive comments online (19 percent) or in person (13 percent). One percent of respondents reported experiencing a physical threat, and 1 percent reported experiencing a physical attack.

 

A different kind of campus-speaker controversy

The situation has fueled unease among those who believe that the window of acceptable viewpoints has narrowed on many campuses, and that any opposition to diversity programs can lead to professional consequences.

Work Through COVID-19

Faculty diversity fell in time of crisis

New study looks back to find that faculty diversity took a hit in terms of tenure-track hires during and after the Great Recession. Study also looks ahead to warn that the same thing could happen during and after COVID-19.
