1915 Scholars Program, an initiative of the Office of Student Success Programs and Services, received a $25,000 gift in honor of the recipient of the 2017 J. Pollard Turman Alumni Service Award. The recipient, designated by the Emory Alumni Association, is Isabel M. Garcia 99L. The Turman Award recognizes alumni for exceptional leadership and service through alumni organizations and related groups and for volunteering on behalf of Emory.

Creating Emory was selected as a 2017 Cordes Innovation Award through Ashoka U.Creating Emory is a collaborative program of Campus Life that works through new student orientation to introduce all undergraduate new students to issues of integrity, diversity, inclusion, dialogue across difference, and interpersonal violence prevention.

Concussions – "Providing Comprehensive, Collaborative, Team-Based Care for All Emory Students” – received a Bridge Fund grant. This project’s goal is to improve care for all Emory students who sustain mild traumatic brain injuries (mTBI) on Emory’s campus. Collaborating organizations include: Emory University Student Health Services, Emory University Athletics, Office of Health Promotion, Emory Healthcare, Incremedical, Office of Environmental Health and Safety.

Emory Conversation Project, providing a template for teaching students skills they need to lead public and engaging conversations, received a grant from the Bridge Fund, an initiative created under the ECL Strategic Plan. Collaborating organizations include: Barkley Forum for Debate, Deliberation and Dialogue; Student Involvement Leadership and Transition; Civic and Community Engagement; Belonging and Community Justice; and Social Justice Education.

Emory Eagles have found a roost at Mary Mac’s. Two ECL departments, Athletics and Communications, collaborated to create a fresh visual presence for Emory at Mary Mac’s Tea Room, the establishment that has been a southern dining tradition in Atlanta for more than 70 years. The framed artwork highlights the accomplishments of Emory Athletics and the student-athletes who have brought home numerous academic honors and sports championships over the years.
