Troy Morris
Troy Morris is the new assistant director for fitness and wellness in Campus Life’s Office of Recreation and Wellness. Prior to joining Emory, he was assistant director for fitness in the Recreation and Wellness Center at the University of Central Florida. The U.S. Army combat veteran is a former strength and conditioning coach with the Orlando Magic team of the National Basketball Association. With a master’s in exercise science from Austin Peay State University, Troy is also certified as a strength and conditioning specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association, as a personal trainer by the National Academy of Sports Medicine, and as a USA Olympic weightlifting level 1 sports performance coach.

Michael Shutt, senior director of Campus Life, was a highlighted speaker for an educational forum of the Association of Collegiate Conference and Event Directors International (ACCED-I) Addressing how to respond positively to protest and dissent on campus, Michael described Emory’s comprehensive approach to promoting and managing free speech and open expression. The September event was hosted by Emory.

Jackie Veliz
Jacqueline (Jackie) Veliz 18C joined Campus Life as program coordinator, Office of LGBT Life, a unit of Belonging and Community Justice. She served previously as LGBTQIA program coordinator at the City University of New York's LaGuardia Community College and as a representative in the CUNY LGBTQI+ Service Council. Jackie graduated from the Emory College of Arts and Sciences in May 2018 with a bachelor’s in creative writing.
