Campus Life HR team welcomes Michelle D. Brown
HR’s new human resources specialist is Michelle D. Brown (she/her/hers), reporting to Jamie E. Thomas, Campus Life’s HR manager. Brown’s new responsibilities include processing paperwork for job applicants and new hires and ensuring that employment documents are accurate and complete. She also reviews and obtains approval of time and attendance

documents, processes pay requests and maintains required documentation in databases, records and files. Brown served most recently as a workforce data specialist with Georgia Tech, HR consultant with WellStar Health Systems, and senior administrative assistant with Emory Healthcare. She completed Emory’s Administrative Professionals Program and is pursing Associate Professional in Human Resources (aPHR) Certification. Brown describes herself as a “true outdoorsy person” who loves hiking, camping and ocean cruises with Benjamin, her husband of 26 years. Her cruises have taken her to the Caribbean, Spain and Italy. 2024 Pride Award Nominations
These awards highlight the Emory community’s support and advocacy for LGBTQ students on campus and beyond. Each March, the Pride Awards commemorate the campus-wide protest that led to the establishment of the Office of LGBT Life. Emory students, staff, faculty, and alumni may be nominated. Learn more about Pride Awards history, award categories, and previous recipients. Submit nominations at www.tinyurl.com/PrideAwards24. New deadline: Monday, March 4.
Lavender Graduation Ceremony
This ceremony - held in conjunction with the Pride Awards - honors graduating lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, and ally students on campus. Open to graduate and undergraduate students. Note: Guests registering for the Lavender Graduation Ceremony should also RSVP for the Pride Awards Ceremony.
Outstanding Student Leadership Award: $5,000 scholarship
This scholarship - which is for the upcoming academic year - will be presented to an undergraduate student in recognition of their exceptional leadership in the LGBTQ community. Members of the Emory community are invited to attend the awards ceremonies described above, which are scheduled for Wednesday, March 27. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the Pride Awards Ceremony begins at 7 p.m. at the Miller-Ward Alumni House. RSVP by Tuesday, March 19.

Workshop: Canva Vision Board Mastery – Achieve Your Goals in 2024
Canva is a free-to-use, online, user-friendly graphic design tool for creating presentations, posters, videos, logos, social media posts and more. This workshop is designed to equip learners to create impactful vision boards using Canva. Participants will delve into the art of visualization and goal-setting while harnessing the power of Canva's intuitive design platform. Experience is not required for participation. Tuesday, March 19, from 10 to 11 a.m. via Zoom. Facilitated by Venus Miller, Campus Life’s assistant manager for staff development and engagement. Sign up in the Learning Management System (LMS) by the deadline, Monday, March 18.

Women’s basketball receives at-large bid to NCAA tournament
For the second season in a row, the Emory University women's basketball team has been selected to participate in the postseason as the Eagles received one of the 19 Pool C at-large bids. Emory (19-6) will be headed to Lexington, Kentucky, this Friday for the opening rounds of the NCAA tournament and will face Ohio Wesleyan (22-6) at host Transylvania. |
