A monkeypox outbreak was identified by the WHO in May 2022 as the virus was detected in many countries to which it is not endemic. Fortunately, monkeypox is usually a self-limited illness. Emory Community Police Academy
returns Tuesday, September 13
EPD's
Community Police Academy
course enables members of the Emory community to gain insight into what EPD does and how they do it. Participants engage in a number of activities, including using EPD's electronic force simulator, practicing defensive tactics, and using firearms, among others. The eight-week course will be conducted Tuesdays, 5:30 to 8 p.m., through November 29. Participation is free and open to members of the Emory
community – faculty,
staff, and students. All applicants must be over 18, sign a release, and pass a background check prior to participating in the class.

Evening program coordinator joins Campus Life Centers team
Nicholas Sapp was hired as an evening program coordinator on September 1. He is a native Atlantan raised in the city’s Cascade neighborhood and a University of Chicago graduate with a bachelor’s in comparative human development. During a leave of absence from his studies at Chicago, Nicholas’ interest in student affairs was sparked by his work in the Office of Black Student Achievement at Georgia State University. Outside of work, Nicholas is passionate about Black American street dances – eagerly learning, competing, and teaching.
