Emory co-sponsors inaugural summit for student health and well-being leaders
Senior leaders from colleges and universities across the nation gathered at Emory to discuss student health and well-being, share solutions and discover ways to meet the evolving needs of students. [

Campus Life Technology Services update
On December 18, Campus Life will begin auto-migrating all computers operating on Windows 10 to Windows 11 through the monthly Windows security update. The upgrade will include enhancements to user experience and overall visual design. Many computers will be eligible on this date and upgrade automatically after a short reboot. Some will upgrade later in December and may need some additional fine-tuning. If your Windows 10 computer does not automatically upgrade to Windows 11, Campus Life Technology Services (CLTS) will reach out to you in the months ahead. 2024 Women of Excellence Awards nominations close Thursday, Dec. 14
Nominations are still open for the 2024 Women of Excellence Awards, presented by the Center for Women and the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. The awards celebrate women who have demonstrated extraordinary dedication to issues affecting women at Emory and in the larger community. SHS welcomes new colleagues Bertram and Tilley
|
|
|
Stevie-Anne Bertram (she/her) has joined the Emory University Student Health Services (SHS) team as a certified medical assistant (CMA), reporting to Kimberly Crow, director of nursing. Bertram will support physicians and medical staff, providing quality health care for Emory students. She comes to Emory from Florida, where she served as a CMA at Aventura Pediatric Center and in the same role at Nicklaus Children's Hospital. Bertram holds a bachelor's degree from Howard University, certification as a medical assistant with the National Healthcare Association, and certification in CPR by the American Red Cross. Her hobbies include trying new foods, researching holistic/natural remedies, and binge watching a good TV series. You can welcome Stevie-Anne at

Sandra Tilley (she/her) is joining Student Health Services (SHS) as an administrative assistant, reporting to Carlos Flores, senior operations manager. She will provide clerical support to the executive director of SHS and other members of the team as it continues to deliver exceptional health care services to Emory students. Already a member of the Emory family, Tilley worked previously as senior administrative assistant to the senior associate vice president for advancement and earlier as an administrative assistant with Emory Law School. Originally from the Washington, D.C., area, she relocated to Atlanta almost a decade ago. In her leisure time, Tilley enjoys exploring new places, taking nature walks, enjoying lunch with close friends, and meeting new friends. You can welcome Sandra to the Campus Life family at

Online curriculum: Certification in fundamentals of neurodiversity
Florida State University launched a new online curriculum for professional certification in the
Fundamentals of Neurodiversity. Through the lens of neurodiversity, this rigorous curriculum informs multidisciplinary professionals and policymakers about individual and systemic factors impacting resilience and wellbeing. Funding will be provided for staff selected to participate.

Claire DePalma’s study of antiracism receives SACSA Dissertation of the Year Award
Claire DePalma has been named the 2023 recipient of the Dissertation of the Year Award from the Southern Association for College Student Affairs (SACSA) for her dissertation, “Antiracist Praxis by White Women in Student Affairs.” As the title suggests, DePalma’s research explores how white women who engage in antiracist practices in their student affairs work understand and enact those practices. [

All Eagles are needed in attendance as Emory's nationally ranked men's basketball team takes on nationally ranked Case Western Reserve University. The event includes a food truck, beer garden, and tailgate games, which begin at 4:30 p.m. Women's basketball game begins at 5:30 and men's at 7:30. Emory historian unearths Jim Crow policy that laid groundwork for Civil Rights movement
Emory College historian Crystal Sanders wanted to understand why so many elderly African American leaders who attended historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) went on to elite schools like Harvard and the University of Chicago for graduate school. Then she unearthed a Jim Crow policy that inadvertently laid the groundwork for the Civil Rights movement.
