SILT team welcomes Kendra Murphy
The new associate director of student engagement and programming for
Student
Involvement, Leadership, and Transitions is Kendra Murphy (she/her). She reports to Lisa Loveall and is
responsible for engaging and developing students through co-curricular activities
, cultivating campus community through relationship building, and supporting Dooley after Dark and the Student Programming Council.
Kendra comes to Emory from Oglethorpe University, where she served as associate director of student engagement. She holds an MEd in higher education leadership and
a BA in psychology, law and public policy, both from Mercer University. In her personal life, Kendra enjoys
family and friends, food festivals, music concerts, traveling, hiking, tennis and photography.

SILT team welcomes Jack Henry Decker
The new program coordinator for student engagement and activities is Jack Henry Decker (he/his). Reporting to Kendra Murphy in Student Involvement, Leadership, and Transitions (SILT), this new colleague's role includes overseeing the Student Programming Council and supporting student leaders as they plan campus events. Most recently, Jack Henry served as an academic advisor at Georgia State University. He earned an MAT in social studies education, BA in political science, and BA in international affairs from the University of Georgia, Athens, and is certified to teach civics in Georgia. An avid basketball fan and one-time Atlanta Hawks dance cam winner, Jack Henry “loves all things Atlanta.”

A new way to report phishing emails
Phishing emails are one of the most serious information security threats facing organizations. Reporting these messages facilitates proactive action to protect your colleagues and the entire university community. Emory has made it easier to report suspicious email messages, such as phishing, spam and fraud. A new feature allows you to report suspicious messages with the click of a button in Outlook. Two century-old national associations provide resources, programming and annual conferences for student affairs professionals. Register now for conferences while early bird rates still apply. If you are interested, connect with your direct supervisor to discuss possible conference attendance and financial support.
NASPA offers discounted membership rates for Emory staff and faculty
You can log into your existing NASPA account or create one. Once you have logged in and filled out your profile with professional and institutional information, you will be offered an option to join NASPA as an individual member. Because Emory is an institutional member, the system will give you the discounted rate of $80 for a professional affiliate membership.

Brett Lucas named as spring recipient of NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship
The award, which includes a $10,000 scholarship, is bestowed annually on student-athletes who excel academically and athletically and serve as leaders in the community. Lucas is the third Eagle to receive the high honor this academic calendar, joining former swimming standouts Pat Pema and Zoe Walker, and brings Emory's all-time total to 125 in its history.
