Chelsea K. Appiah is Residence Life’s new complex director for Longstreet-Means Hall. She served previously as assistant hall director at Ohio State University and community coordinator at the University of Cincinnati. Chelsea earned a master’s in higher education and student affairs from Ohio State and a bachelor’s in English from Miami University in Oxford, OH. Her fields of study were professional writing and women's, gender, and sexuality studies.

Carson Banks joined Campus Life’s Student Involvement, Leadership and Transitions (SILT) team as a program coordinator. He comes to Emory from Florida State University where he served as a graduate assistant for Union Productions in the Student Activities Center. Carson holds a master’s in higher education from Florida State and a bachelor’s in film studies and philosophy from University of North Carolina, Wilmington.

Rachel Bensink also joined the Student Involvement, Leadership and Transitions (SILT) team as a program coordinator. She brings experience in advising leadership programs at Bowling Green State University, where she earned a master’s in college student personnel. Rachel also holds a bachelor’s in sociology from James Madison University.

Cedric Blatch is Residence Life’s new complex director for Alabama-Dobbs Hall. Before joining Emory, he served as a graduate assistant in orientation and student leadership at Nova Southeastern University, where he is completing a master’s in college student affairs. Cedric holds an bachelor’s in English from Saint Leo University, with a major in professional writing and a minor in communications.

Jonathan Bonnet, who joined Emory University Student Health Services as team physician, served previously as staff physician with the Veterans Administration. He earned an MD at Ohio State University and an MPH at Harvard, completed a family medicine residency at Duke and a sports medicine fellowship at University of Florida. Jon is board certified in family, sports, obesity, and lifestyle medicine and brings to Emory his passion for optimizing health, improving performance, and promoting longevity.

LaNita Gregory Campbell is Campus Life’s new director of Racial and Cultural Engagement, having served most recently at Florida Atlantic University, a Hispanic-serving institution, as assistant dean of the Weppner Center for LEAD (Leadership Education and Development) and Service-Learning. Her experience also includes positions as associate director of Academic Initiatives at Florida Atlantic, postdoctoral fellow in Diversity and Inclusion at the University of Delaware, and programming assistant in the Asian Culture Center at Indiana University. LaNita holds a PhD in gender studies and an master’s in Latin American and Caribbean studies from Indiana University, as well as a bachelor’s in Spanish and gender studies from the University of Southern California.

Jannell Goodwin-Farley 19C, meeting services coordinator in the University Center, graduated From Emory in May with a bachelor’s degree in women’s, gender, and sexuality studies. Jannell joined Emory as a full-time employee in Campus Services in 1989, transitioned to Campus Life in 2007, and enrolled as an Emory College student in 2008, taking one class per semester.

Jake Horvath 19PH is Residence Life’s new complex director for Smith-Thomas-Hopkins Hall. His previous assignments include pre-college director in Residence Life, Eagle Row house director, and graduate assistant for the Office of Student Success Programs and Services. Jake’s professional interests include mental health and crisis intervention, the first-year experience, and identity development. He holds a master’s in public health from Emory’s Rollins School of Public Health and a bachelor’s in public health from Ohio State University.

Linh Nguyen is the Emory Eagles’ new head coach for cross country/track and field. He joins Emory after serving as director of cross country/track and field at the University of Toledo. He also coached for 12 seasons at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Linh earned a master’s in exercise physiology from UNC-Greensboro and a bachelor’s in sports medicine from Lynchburg College. Sussy Botero Vasquez

Sussy Botero Vasquez has joined Campus Life in April as assistant director of facilities and operations in Housing Operations. Her previous positions include facilities manager at Agnes Scott College, director of housekeeping at the Lovett School, and assistant director of housekeeping for the Omni Atlanta Hotel at CNN Center. Sussy holds a bachelor’s in advertising from the University of Florida.

Shana Ware is the new survivor resource specialist in the Office of Respect, Center for Student Success Programs and Services. She served previously as advocacy services coordinator at Northern Illinois University, where she earned several degrees. Shana holds two master’s degrees in education, one in clinical mental health counseling and another in adult and higher education, as well as a bachelor’s in public health. She is also co-founder of Campus Advocacy and Prevention Professionals Association (CAPPA) and the Sexual and Relationship Violence Education and Response Knowledge Community for NASPA, which she serves as chair.
